Thus far, Hootsuite is the winner in this battle of the social media managers. One new kid on the block that shows promise is Buffer.com, which offers a variety of tools and features to help you manage your social media presence.
One of the biggest advantages of Buffer.com is that it’s significantly cheaper than many of its competitors. For just $6 per channel per month, you can manage your social media accounts. This makes it a great choice for small businesses or individuals who are looking to keep their costs low.
A nice little feature is hashtag groups. You make some hashtag groups you use a lot so that for future posts, just click the group and all of those hashtags are inserted into the post for you. 🙂
One of the biggest drawbacks of Buffer.com is that it doesn’t yet support YouTube, although this feature is reportedly coming soon. Additionally, Buffer can’t post directly to Instagram, which means that you’ll need to manually post your content after receiving a notification from Buffer.
Another area where Buffer falls short is in its scheduling capabilities. While the platform offers some scheduling tools, they’re not as powerful as Hootsuite and I couldn’t find a smart scheduler anywhere.
Overall, Buffer.com is a solid choice for social media management and marketing, particularly if you’re looking for an affordable option. While it may not have all the features of some of its competitors, it offers enough functionality to get the job done for most users. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to Hootsuite, and don’t care about youtube, Buffer.com is definitely worth considering.
