Hey all, I’ve got so many comments on box cover art for BloodRunes and to be honest, I’ve never been fully stoked about the feel of it. I currently have 2 different versions of the box cover art and have gotten feedback on both that lead to the other one. 😛
What I mean by that is I’ll have a reviewer play the game under one box art and say they love the game but the game doesn’t match the box art and so I’ll ask them what they think of the other box art and they love that one and that’s gone both ways, which tells me I need something else entirely. Another comment I got from Derek at Riftway Games is that boxes with characters on them tend to be more for younger players and while BloodRunes is totally accessible to younger players, I didn’t want to be pigeonholed there. Looking at a lot of other games for adults that are thematic, I noticed that most of their cover art is more abstract, not necessarily showing what the game is about on the box; like Settlers of Catan and Dominion. These titles just have landscapes on them. I wanted to do something a little more landscapey but still capture the runes you’ll be playing with. So here’s what I’ve come with. Let me know what you think in comments or reply. Thank! 🙂
